Music for Early Years in Marylebone
UPDATE SEPT 2017: The Marylebone Dance Studio closed at the end of the summer term and, as of yet, I have been unable to find a suitable replacement. Therefore the classes are postponed until January. If you would like to go on my mailing list please email me using the button to the left and I will add you to the list for further information. I am still running my classes at Great Beginnings Nursery.
If you would like me to come to your child's nursery do ask the staff to contact me and we can organise a trial session.
I have over 15 years of instrumental teaching experience and am fully DBS checked. As a musician and a mother I feel passionately that music is a language all children should learn. There are so many delights to be gained from the music itself, both in listening and playing. More and more studies are now coming through to show it also has many crossover benefits to other areas. The key elements in my classes are musical learning through play and participation. These are skills which will give enjoyment and confidence to your children.
The Kodály Approach
The Kodály approach uses materials that are child centred and enable your child to develop a sense of rhythm and pitch one step at a time.
Tools used include singing using relative solfa (inspired by the French system), handsigns (see pics above) and rhythm names.
